Thank you for your interest in our Arbitrator Certification process. You must be an intercompany arbitrator to participate in Arbitration Forums' certification program. If you are not currently a volunteer arbitrator and interested in becoming one, go to http://www.arbfile.org and read How Do I Become an Arbitrator under the Arbitrators dropdown menu. There are three components to all of AF's certification programs: 1. Forum Exam - 25 multiple-choice question exam on the applicable forum's Agreement and Rules. Successful completion of this portion requires a score of 80 or better. 2. Claims Knowledge Exam - 25 multiple-choice questions on general claims principles related to the selected forum or track (Auto Liability or General Liability). Successful completion of this portion requires a score of 70 or better. 3. Hearing Simulations - 3 cases that you will review and render decisions. Successful completion of this portion requires a score of 70 or better. Certification is required for all arbitrators who hear Special, Property, and/or Uninsured Motorists Arbitration cases. All other certification programs are voluntary. Following your successful completion of the above three components in your chosen certification track*, you will receive the following designation: · Auto Forum = Certified Auto Subrogation Arbitrator (CASA) · Property Forum = Certified Property Subrogation Arbitrator (CPSA) · Special AL = Certified Special Arbitrator Auto Liability (CSAA) · Special GL = Certified Special Arbitrator General Liability (CSAG) · Special CD = Certified Special Arbitrator Construction Defect (CSAC) · Med Pay = Certified Medical Payments Subrogation Arbitrator (CMSA) · PIP = Certified PIP Subrogation Arbitrator (CISA) · UM = Certified Uninsured Motorist Arbitrator (CUMA) · Certified Master Inter-Company Arbitrator (CMIA) designation received when certification attained in ALL forums. *You only need to successfully complete the Auto Liability Claims Knowledge Test once for the following certifications: Auto, Med Pay, PIP, and Special AL. Likewise you need only successfully complete the General Liability Claims Knowledge test once for the following certifications: Property, Special GL, and Special CD.
